OUTCOME 1

Attendees, one message

GAAPP’s attendees left with a shared view of how influence and collaboration help people work well together.

OUTCOME 2

Influence with others

People began to see influence as something they do with others, not to them, and a way to bring people along.

OUTCOME 3

Ideas they'll act on

Simple, practical ideas on influence and collaboration that attendees could use back at work straight away.

THE CHALLENGE

GAAPP wanted a keynote that made influence and collaboration feel fun, not like homework.

Events like GAAPP’s ask a lot of their audience. Attendees arrive from different organisations with different priorities, and they want ideas they can use rather than a stack of notes. The organisers needed one keynote to pull the whole room around a shared message.

Tonya Winders worked alongside Duncan from the planning stage and asked him to speak on the power of influence and collaboration. She wanted the session to get its points across in a fun, engaging way.

DUNCAN’S SOLUTION

A tailored influence keynote with on-stage behavioural psychology demonstrations and a room that joined in.

From the first planning call, Duncan worked closely with Tonya to understand who’d be in the room, how the event would run and where a keynote could add the most.

He built a 45-minute keynote on influence and collaboration, using on-stage behavioural psychology demonstrations to show how small changes in what we say and do change how people respond. Every idea came with a simple step attendees could try with their own colleagues, and the delivery stayed light, warm and energetic.

THE RESULT

An event that earned rave reviews from its attendees and an invitation to work together again.

Tonya Winders said GAAPP got rave reviews from all of the attendees and that she’ll use Duncan again in the future. She described how easy he was to work with, from the planning to the execution of the event. In the survey, 96% of attendees said they’d recommend Duncan.

The audience survey below shows how the session landed with the people in the room.

THOUGHTS FROM DUNCAN

People take serious ideas in most easily when they’re enjoying themselves.

So I keep the tone light, use demonstrations that get everyone involved, and build every point around one small change people can make in how they speak, listen and ask. Influence and collaboration then stop feeling like abstract skills and start feeling like everyday habits.

Working with Tonya was a pleasure from the first planning conversation to the final round of applause, and GAAPP’s attendees were welcoming, curious and generous with their questions. I’d love to work with them again.
