General Information About The City:
Antwerp located in Belgium is the capital city of the Antwerp Province in the Flemish region. Antwerp has allegedly been around since possibly the fourth century and is well known for being a port city high in trade and for the large diamond industry there and its long history. This centuries-old city as of 2021 has a population of 1 million citizens and is the second-largest city in Belgium. Belgium has three official languages, French, Dutch and German but the language mostly spoken here is Dutch. The city is famous for its medieval Diamond District, where 85% of all rough diamonds are commercialized. Antwerp’s history in the diamond trade dates back to as early as the sixteenth century a large port city, trading is Antwerp’s most important economic contributor, with a large number of European and Asian merchants making purchases and sales there. Tourists from around the world come to visit the many museums such as Museum De Reede, a graphic arts museum or Diva, museum of diamonds, jewellery and silver.
