General Information About The City:

Located on the central west of Switzerland, the city was originally built on a hilly peninsula close to the river Aare in the 1200s and has traditionally been the largest sovereign city-state north of the Alps. Today though it only has a population of less than half a million, even though the canton of Bern is the second most populous in Switzerland. Along with various other cultural offerings, the world heritage medieval town centre attracts tens of thousands of tourists to the area each year — which includes the longest covered market promenades in Europe.

Bern as a Conference and Events City:

As one of the global financial hubs, Central Switzerland attracts various global conventions from The Lugano Finance Forum to the Swiss Innovation Forum where they are looking at regional and national opportunists respectively. Plus there are a whole bunch of speciality conferences including the Basel Wine Fair which highlights top-tier farms from around the world, as well as Baselworld for those who want to connect with the Swiss master watchmaking community, along with Montreux Art Gallery Expo for the antically minded delegates. There are also culinary based options such as the Igeho Hospitality Expo or even the Basler Feinmesse Gourmet Food Fair.
