General Information About The City:

The city of Nassau practically dominates the entire island of the Bahamas including Paradise Island which sits just of the coast, the residential population of about 200k is mostly made up of the descendant of freed British slaves from when the practice was abolished by the empire in the early 1800s – however, the group of the island has been traditionally known as the home of pirates going back hundreds of years. Today though this international hub of commerce, tourism and media have one of the busiest regional airports with connections to North America, Africa and Europe daily, linking many of the smaller islands to the world at large.

It’s worth noting that the city has a definite wet-dry season cycle, so between July and September it will be raining for most of your trip; that said the beaches are stunning and well worth the visit most of the rest of the year – with many tourists choosing to stay in the Cable Beach area. The city centre itself is a cultural gem with loads of architectural monuments from the Bahamian Parliament to their very own Pirates of Nassau Museum; although your delegates can do some shopping while exploring the two most highly recommended spots are Woodes Rogers Walk which extends parrel from the port for several blocks in both directions, and Straw Market.
